Otters - Year 3

Welcome to Otters

Our teacher is Mr Parker and we are helped by Mrs Gerred and Mrs Antcliffe.

The members of Otter Class are in Year Three. In the morning, children have a literacy and numeracy lesson. During this time, there is a teaching assistant working in the class, alongside the class teacher to support the children’s learning. In the afternoon, History, Geography, R.E., P.E., French, Science, Art, Music, DT and P.S.H.E. are taught throughout the week, generally within a regular timetable. Some of these subjects are rotated on a termly basis.

Otter Class gives the children the opportunity to consolidate the skills and knowledge that they have developed in Key Stage One and to use these to move their learning forward to meet new challenges and targets.

We are a creative class and our homework tasks reflect this. This year, we have been learning all about the Anglo-Saxons, Maya civilisation and Vikings. The children have brought in some amazing models of rainforests and Maya temples as well as baskets of food that the Maya would have eaten.

Our topic this term is 'The Vikings are coming!'

We have learnt all about why the Vikings raided and then settled in our country, what clothes they wore and the weapons they used.
